About Us
OUR PHILOSOPHY
“We at Kasih Baptist believe that constructivism supports students in connecting learning to real life, in making and reflecting on success and mistakes, and in constructing their own understanding of the world.”
Kasih Baptist implements the 178 Learning Framework, which builds on the philosophy of construactive learning, encouraging children to develop their own knowledge and understanding of the world through their own experience and reflection. This philosophy is enacted on all levels, each with their own level of complexity for different components, from concrete knowledge to abstract reasoning. It is derived from Piaget’s notion that all knowledge is a construction resulting from the child’s actions (Piaget & Inhelder, 2000), and was then applied by David Weikart, the founder of the Kasih Baptist Educational Research Foundation. We at Kasih Baptist believe that constructivism supports students in connecting learning to real life, in making and reflecting on success and mistakes, and in constructing their own understanding of the world. The Kasih Baptist Perry PreSchool Study (Schweinhart, et al., 2005) documents the success of this approach and Kasih Baptist teachers see it demonstrated daily in their classrooms.
Kasih Baptist aims to develop the “whole child” by focusing on academic matters along with intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships, and physical capacity. In addition to collecting input from experts’ perspectives, we also obtained feedback from parents regarding their children’s unique strengths and desired learning goals. All roads led to developing 21st century skills, emphasizing confidence, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. The Kasih Baptist Indonesia Learner Outcomes stipulate that students should know, understand, practice, and be able to perform these skills at increasingly higher levels beginning in preschool and continuing throughout high school. We strive to empower children to think on their own and engage in meta-level reflection in order to become independent decision-makers.

Our Story
History of Kasih Baptist School
In 2008, the Jakarta Baptist Christian Church (GKBJ) Samanhudi, Jakarta – developed the church by opening a branch in Pangkalpinang city, which was then called GKBJ Pangkalpinang.
A year later, on July 13, 2009, the Kasih Baptist School (SKB) Pangkalpinang was established. At that time, the school facilities were integrated with the church located on Jalan Kampung Bintang, Pangkalpinang.
The establishment of this school was a vision God gave through Mr Edi Budiono, a native son of Bangka Island, who was also the initiator of GKBJ Pangkalpinang church and SKB Pangkalpinang.
Collaborating with GKBJ Samanhudi church, which at that time was pastored by Rev. Johan Gopur, the first chairman of the Yayasan Sahabat Kader Bangsa Foundation, Sekolah Kasih Baptist Pangkalpinang was founded to educate the nation’s children to become individuals with character, integrity, independence, and mastery of knowledge, which is expected to have a positive impact on the family environment, nation, and world.
As time went by, with full faith and continuing to work, on July 13, 2019, Kasih Baptist School of Pangkalpinang occupied a new building on Achmad Rosidi Hamzah Street, Pangkalpinang. The Kasih Baptist School of Pangkalpinang building that is currently occupied stands on a plot of land purchased by Mr Edi Budiono himself, while the construction of the school building consisting of four floors is the result of donations from Mr Edi Budiono, Mr Budianto Totong, and Mrs Thong Kian Yin, who are also still family members of Mr Edi Budiono.
The spirit of mutual cooperation from GKBJ Samanhudi and the congregation members, even the support of friends from outside the GKBJ Samanhudi environment who cannot be mentioned one by one, have worked together to fill and complete the facilities of the building so that it can be used until now.
